About the film
In a community that has chosen to govern itself outside the law, one person dares to challenge the order. Sanco Republic is a richly constructed Nollywood drama about power structures and the courage to speak when silence is the safer choice.
Cultural context
Draws on the Nigerian experience of informal governance and community self-policing in areas where state authority has been absent or ineffective.
